Schools and their staff form part of the wider safeguarding system for children.  Everyone who comes into contact with children and their families and carers has a role to play in safeguarding children. In order to fulfil this responsibility effectively, all professionals should make sure their approach is child-centred. This means that they should consider, at all times, what is in the best interests of the child.

(Keeping Children Safe in Education – DfE, 2018)

Keeping children safe is a responsibility that we take extremely seriously.  Your child’s safety is of paramount importance to us and we have clear and consistent procedures in place to ensure every child’s safety.

To achieve this, we have a variety of policies and procedures that are explicitly clear to staff and outline the actions that need to be taken.  These policies and procedures follow agreed guidelines laid down by the Essex Safeguarding Children Board (ESCB) and our Academy Trust. This is supported by regular, updated continuous professional development for all staff.

In school we have three trained designated safeguarding officers, they are:-

  • Mrs E Wigmore – Executive Head Teacher
  • Mrs G Smith – Head of school
  • Mrs A Leonard – Assistant Head

Our Safeguarding Governor is Mrs L Eve.

If you have any concerns about a child’s safety or welfare please speak to one of the above staff members.

The Academy’s safeguarding Policy can be found below along with other useful documents and is also on the Policy page of the website.
