Year 4 ~ PUFFINS
Hello Puffin Class, I am messaging you all from my sunny garden! I hope you and your families are safe and well during this peculiar time. How are you feeling?
Haven’t we been lucky to see the sunshine this week?
Why not make the most of the weather and create some art? These are animal shadow sketches.
How are you getting on with your learning packs? I hope you are having fun whilst learning! I have been thinking of you all and I have found lots of things that will help you to continue your learning journey at home with your grown-ups. Check it out!
You would NOT believe who I discovered in my garden yesterday morning…
I was astounded to see a beautiful, powerful and ferocious TIGER!
Can you write me a story based on the adventures of this majestic creature? How do you think he got here? Why is he here? What do you think he might do next?
I can not wait to read your stories!
Maybe you could create a WANTED poster with a detailed description? OR a newspaper report, imagining that you are a journalist reporting this shocking news?
Dojo’s for anyone including a drop-in sentence into their writing!
Carol Vorderman has a site which is excellent for supporting maths. She has made it free for the foreseeable future. Sign up today! https://www.themathsfactor.com/
I know how much my class love David Walliams. Well the good news is, this hilarious author is reading a new story every day at 11am. Something to lift everyone’s spirits - Check it out with your family! https://www.worldofdavidwalliams.com/elevenses/
Another great site to check out is: https://www.oliverjeffers.com/books#/the-day-the-crayons-quit-1/
Oliver Jeffers is offering a ‘stay home story time’ each day too.
After enjoying a story or two, could you write a book review to add to our Year 4 recommended reads? When we return to school, we can fill up our file!
Edinburgh zoo have put live webcams into some of their enclosures so you can check out some of the animals! Maybe observe them and write a non-chronological report. https://www.edinburghzoo.org.uk/webcams/panda-cam/
Also, ‘Wildlife with Steve Backshall’ is shared on facebook every day at 9:30am. Steve is answering children’s questions about animal conservation, biology and geography. What are you most curious about? What burning questions could you pose?
What have I been up to?
So far this week I have enjoyed joining Joe Wicks (The Body Coach) every morning for a quick work-out. Even though I cannot go to the gym right now I am staying fit and healthy, remembering that being active supports your mental well-being too. Want to join me? https://www.youtube.com/user/thebodycoach1
I have also joined in with the Rainbow Trail 2020. Could you create a rainbow picture to display in your window at home?
The idea is simple – we are helping to spread joy and hope to everyone in our communities.
Just like the Bible teaches us, Romans 12:12 Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer.
Stay safe, have fun! Happy learning!
